monolith jewel

Monolith jewel for the hand. The design process was personal for me so I wished to express my depressive emotions through the object. My aim was to create a jewel which is aesthetic but its aggressive shape estranges the social environment from its wearer, like an ornamental safeguard. Finally, I formed spikey hand-pieces made of sand-casted bronze.

distance brooches

Proxemics is the study of human use of space. We are differenciate five interpersonal distances of man (the relative distances between people): close intimate space, intimate space, personal space, social space and public space. In my brooch project I observe the distance between my parents and me. The balls and the wires show this distance, creating a volume while the placement of the brooches has a symbolic meaning. The backside of the body reflects unsolved problems. The right hand is the giving and tools for reach our goals. The feet symbolise the roots.

gold

My mind connects gold to my grandmother, Mama. She never pulled off her favourite jewels until she got cancer. Mama passed away recently. I inherited a few gold chains from her what I used for this project. The installation represents a portrait of my family.
